FreshBuzzer vs BuzzMeBro: the honest comparison
FreshBuzzer costs CA$4 a month and has more features than BuzzMeBro, including access codes. BuzzMeBro costs $9.99 a month and differs on privacy. FreshBuzzer’s privacy policy says user information is a business asset that transfers if the company is sold or goes bankrupt. BuzzMeBro’s policy says your data is never sold, never used to train AI, and deleted before the company could ever be sold.
If you are choosing between these two, you have already worked out that a buzzer number is the fix. This page is written by BuzzMeBro, so read it with that in mind. Everything said about FreshBuzzer comes from its own site, read on 30 September 2026, and you can check each point in a minute.
BuzzMeBro: what you get for the higher price
BuzzMeBro gives your apartment a local number that rings up to 4 phones at the same time. The buzz arrives as an ordinary phone call, whoever is free answers and presses a key, and the door opens. There is nothing to install. It is $9.99 a month for the whole apartment, or $7.92 a month on the yearly plan.
It is a registered business in Toronto, and its privacy policy commits that your household’s data is never sold, never used to train AI, and deleted before any sale of the company.
Where FreshBuzzer is better
Credit where it is due. FreshBuzzer has been around longer, having started as BuzzMeIn before renaming in 2022, and it does more.
- Price. CA$4 a month or CA$35 a year, for up to 5 phones.
- Access codes. A guest can type a code at the panel and get in without anyone answering.
- Auto-entry. It can be set to open the door for anyone who buzzes.
- Ring order. You can choose all phones at once or one at a time.
BuzzMeBro leaves access codes and auto-entry out deliberately. A person on your resident list opens your door every time, and each open is logged with who pressed it. If codes are what you want, FreshBuzzer has them and BuzzMeBro does not.
Where they differ on your data
Both services have to hold the same sensitive set of facts about your household. The difference is what each has written down about it.
| Question | BuzzMeBro | FreshBuzzer |
|---|---|---|
| Does the policy say your data is never sold? | Yes. Never sold, rented, licensed or traded. | Not in the policy. The FAQ says “We don’t and won’t sell or share any of your data with any third party.” |
| Who can it be shared with? | Seven named providers, each with one job. | The policy shares IP address and aggregate information with “our partners, service providers and other persons with whom we conduct business”. |
| What if the company is sold or goes bankrupt? | Your data is deleted before the sale. A buyer never gets it. | The policy says “user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party”, and that the acquirer “may continue to use your Personal Information”. |
| Does it rule out AI training? | Yes, in the policy. | AI is not mentioned. |
| When was the policy last updated? | September 2026. | 19 April 2024. |
To be fair to FreshBuzzer, its FAQ says plainly that it does not sell your data, and nothing in its documents says otherwise. The issue is narrower and more important. The promise is in an FAQ, the policy is what binds, and the policy says your information goes to whoever acquires the company. Why that clause matters more than it looks.
Which one to choose
- Choose BuzzMeBro if the people you live with need the door to work and you want it in writing that your phone numbers and address are never sold, including to a future owner.
- FreshBuzzer fits if access codes or the lowest price matter most to you and the sale clause does not worry you.
- Choose neither if you live alone and only need the buzzer to ring a different phone. Your building can change that number.
The price gap is real. What it buys is a Toronto company that earns from the subscription alone and has written down that it always will. See all ten services compared, or get your BuzzMeBro number.

Does FreshBuzzer sell your data?
Nothing on FreshBuzzer’s site says it does, and its FAQ says it will not. Its privacy policy does state that user information is an asset transferred to a buyer if the company is sold or goes bankrupt. BuzzMeBro’s policy rules that out: your data is deleted before any sale of the company.

No. BuzzMeBro has no access codes and no auto-entry. A person on your resident list opens the door each time, from a phone call or from the app, and every open is logged with who pressed it.

Yes. Sign up with BuzzMeBro, add the people you live with, and send your building the ready-written message asking them to change the number on the panel. Your old number keeps working until the building makes the change.
