A 905, 289 or 365 number is the natural fit, and larger multi-generational households are common here, so one stored number covers even less of the household than usual.
Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, downtown Markham and the Yonge corridor through Richmond Hill have added a lot of towers in a short time. They are new buildings with the same one field in the panel that everything else has.
Local means local to your building
A local calling area is drawn around an exchange, not around a region. A panel in Markham and a panel on Bay Street have overlapping but different reach.
So a 416 number is not a safer choice up here than a 905 one. If anything the reverse, since the ring codes are the ones issued locally. Why the area code is the wrong question.
